With the cable car you take the first step of the day – it is too early to climb the Schattberg right now. On the Schattberg east peak the sun is already shining and now you can see the dimensions of the mountains and the beauty of the region. After sucking in the spirit of the late-summer-mountains you start your hike towards the Schattberg west-peak and the Stemmerkogel. Far in the back you can see the Zwölferkogel-Panorama-Trail, a very famous hiking trail in Saalbach Hinterglemm.
The Glemmtal valley is full of hikes and trails that want you to hike on them. You do not necessarily climb up the highest peaks, there is a plenty of panorama trails and loop trails which provide stunning views and breathtaking panoramas. For those of you who really want to know it – we have the Seven Summits of Saalbach Hinterglemm. As the name implies, on this route you have to hike over seven summits of the valley. Approx. 9 hours of hiking time and the distance of 24 kilometers seperate the wheat from the chaff. If you really want to do the seven summits you have to be a well experienced hiker and mountaineer and have to be in excellent shape. Otherwise 1.413 meters elevation will show you your limits.
Those hikers, who are capable of such a trip will find extremely beautiful mountains, steep ascents, tough descents and a long day of hiking. Make sure you do not forget weather protection equipment and enouth food and water. Make sure the weather forecast is stable – there are no shelters and huts along the way.
